We all know Kanye West as one of the most inspirational and influential artists of our time. Some may beg to differ but he’s worked hard to get where he is although he was deemed a college dropout at 20 in order to pursue his musical career. However, 17 years later the Art Institute of Chicago awarded Kanye with an honorary PhD and we’d like to think it is well deserved. Check out his speech below!

“This honor is going to make your lives easier, for two reasons: You don’t have to defend me as much! And I’m going to make all of our lives easier,” he said. It is these Floyd Mayweather belts that are needed to prove what I have been saying my entire life – whether it was the sign of Paul McCartney grabbing me and saying, ‘It’s Okay, he doesn’t bite,’ or the New York Times cover, or the Time (magazine) most-influential cover. And now a doctorate at the School of the Art institute of Chicago.”

“When I was giving a lecture at Oxford, I brought up this school, because when I went on a mission to create in other spaces — apparel, film, performance,” he added, “it would have been easier to have just said I had a degree at the Art Institute of Chicago! Thank you.”

Congratulations Kanye, nothing is impossible!
